Comparison

The best AI search visibility tools in 2026, compared on price and engines

Nine tools, ranked on one thing you can check yourself: what the cheapest plan includes. Which engines, how many prompts, how often it looks, and what it costs. Every figure below is from the vendor's own pricing page, read on 9 October 2026, with ownership re-checked on 9 October 2026, and we say where we fall short too.

How we ranked

How we ranked these AI brand visibility tools, and why we are first

A vendor putting itself first on its own comparison page is worth nothing unless the criterion is stated and checkable. Ours is the entry plan: the plan most people reading this will buy first, and the place this category hides its trade-offs. Every AI search tracking tool here covers ChatGPT. The differences are in what else is included before you pay more.

On that criterion we come first, because ours is the lowest-priced plan on this page that carries all six engines with nothing sold as an add-on. Otterly sells Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode separately. Peec limits a project to three models and lists Claude only on Enterprise. Rankscale covers every engine on credits, from $17 a month billed yearly. Profound’s paid tier for brands is an Enterprise quote. AthenaHQ includes eleven engines, more than we do, at $295 a month, where ours starts at $9.

If your criterion is different, the ranking changes:

The widest engine list:
AthenaHQ.
Agent tooling and an enterprise rollout:
Profound.
Staying inside a suite you already pay for:
Ahrefs or Semrush.

The nine best AI visibility tracking tools, ranked on price and engines

In rank order. Prices are monthly and as published, in each vendor's own currency. Every entry is written so you can make the call on your own criterion.

  1. Entry plan

    $9/mo, 2 prompts

    Best for
Brands that want to get recommended by AI, with all six engines from the first day, on the first plan.
    Engines
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode. All six on every plan.
    What it does
Track your AI mentions and get recommended by ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Overviews. It shows which answers to the prompts your buyers type name a competitor instead of you, which pages each engine reads and cites, and whether a change you made worked, because every engine is checked again on a schedule. Every answer is stored in full. Every rate carries its sample size, and under five checks it shows the fraction rather than a percentage. Sentiment is rated per mention with the sentence that produced it kept beside the rating, and cited-but-not-named is reported as its own state because it needs different work from being absent.
    Where it falls short
Two prompts on the entry plan is a floor, not a starting point. Five engines run six days a week and Claude twice, because Claude costs seven to ten times more per answer. If you need agent traffic analytics, shopping visibility or content generation, none of that is here and we do not pretend otherwise.

  2. Entry plan

    $29/mo Lite, 15 prompts

    Otterly AI alternatives, compared

    Best for
Solo marketers who want a fast setup and mostly care about ChatGPT and Perplexity.
    Engines
Four included: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot. Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode are paid add-ons.
    What it does
Otterly is genuinely simple to start with, and the Lite plan tracks daily. It watches four engines out of the box and pairs monitoring with content briefs and crawlability checks. Standard at $189 adds API and MCP access and agent analytics.
    Where it falls short
The engine list is the thing to check. Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are extras on every plan, priced per engine: $9, $9 and $29 a month on Lite, so the full seven is $76 rather than $29. Copilot is one of the four included engines, and its answers draw mostly on Bing.
  3. Entry plan

    €85/mo Starter, 50 prompts

    Peec AI alternatives, compared

    Best for
Agencies who want a clean client-facing dashboard and are happy choosing three models.
    Engines
Choose three per project on Starter, Pro and Advanced, from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI. Claude, Grok and DeepSeek are listed under Enterprise.
    What it does
Berlin-built, daily tracking, unlimited users, and the interface is the thing reviewers keep mentioning. It covers visibility, position and sentiment on the models you choose, and Advanced at €425 adds multi-country tracking and a Looker Studio integration.
    Where it falls short
You pick three. That is the design, not a limitation they hide, and it is fine for a team that knows which three matter. Claude is not one of the choices below Enterprise. It is a problem the moment a client asks why they were named on Gemini and not on Copilot and you were not watching Copilot. Prompt volumes come from clickstream estimates rather than measured AI conversations, which is the same proxy everyone uses, and they are honest about it.
  4. Entry plan

$17/mo Essentials, billed yearly; $99/mo Pro with 1,200 credits

    Best for
Teams that want a credit-based model and will use the Looker Studio connector.
    Engines
Seventeen or more on every plan, paid for in credits, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, AI Mode and AI Overviews.
    What it does
Everything runs on credits, and most engine queries cost a quarter of one, so you decide the trade-off between prompts, engines and frequency yourself, on a schedule from hourly to monthly. Pro covers up to 4,800 answers a month, Pro+ at $229 adds a REST API, Growth at $385 adds white-label options, and Pro can be tried for seven days.
    Where it falls short
Credits cut both ways. A Claude query costs two credits against a quarter for ChatGPT, eight times as much, so the engines you pick decide what a plan buys. Essentials is billed yearly only. The calculator on the pricing page is worth using before you pick a plan, because the headline prices do not tell you what you will actually pay.
  5. Entry plan

    $295/mo Starter, 3,600 credits

    Best for
Companies that want eleven models and prescriptive fixes, and have $295 a month to start.
    Engines
Eleven on Starter: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI, Mistral.
    What it does
The widest engine list on this page, and an Action Center that turns findings into recommended fixes. One credit is one AI response, so 3,600 a month is generous at the entry tier. There is a free tier with 300 credits and five engines to try it on.
    Where it falls short
The price. $295 is the cheapest paid plan, roughly ten times Otterly's. That buys a lot, and for a mid-sized marketing team it may be the right call. For a founder who only needs to know whether ChatGPT names their product, the entry price is the hurdle. The Action Center's recommendations are generated by AthenaHQ, so ask how one is derived before you act on it.
  6. Entry plan

Index from $199/mo; prompt packages from $50/mo; Ahrefs Lite ($129/mo) includes 5 tracked prompts

    Best for
Teams already paying for Ahrefs who want AI mentions next to their backlink data.
    Engines
Six in the index: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, AI Overviews, AI Mode. Claude on your own tracked prompts only.
    What it does
Two products under one name. The AI Visibility Index maps your presence across an index Ahrefs says covers 470 million prompts, with no setup, and is useful once your brand already appears in AI search. Custom prompts are the ones you define, checked daily, weekly or monthly per platform; every paid Ahrefs plan includes a few, and packages start at $50 a month.
    Where it falls short
Ahrefs says the index works best for established brands with meaningful search demand, because it is built on its keyword database and may have limited coverage for brands with little search volume. So it tells you about the market more than about your specific questions; custom prompts are the part that answers yours, and a Claude update counts as eight checks.
  7. Entry plan

$99/mo toolkit, 25 prompts; Semrush One from $199/mo with 50

    Best for
Agencies that live in Semrush and do not want another login.
    Engines
Prompt Tracking: ChatGPT Search, Gemini, AI Overviews, AI Mode. Brand Performance names ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Mode.
    What it does
Share of voice, sentiment and prompt tracking, built into the SEO platform 100,000-plus teams already use, at $99 a month on its own or inside a Semrush One plan. Adobe completed its acquisition of Semrush on 28 April 2026, so this is now an Adobe product; Adobe's own completion release names agentic search optimisation alongside SEO and GEO. If your reporting is already in Semrush, the convenience is real.
    Where it falls short
Brand Performance updates weekly; Prompt Tracking is daily, on four engines. The toolkit has no free trial, and Semrush describes its AI visibility metrics as directional signals. It is a natural first step for a team already in Semrush; for anyone else, the weekly cadence is the thing to weigh.
  8. Entry plan

Free 7-day trial, 50 prompts daily; brands then go to Enterprise, custom priced. Agencies: $399/mo per client workspace.

    Profound alternatives, compared

    Best for
Enterprises with a budget for a demo-led sale and a team to run agents.
    Engines
Up to nine on Enterprise. The trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews.
    What it does
Profound is the best-funded company in this category and the most complete platform on the page. It tracks up to nine engines on Enterprise, and its AI Marketer agents run the content pipeline that fills the gaps it finds. For a large team with a mandate to do AEO at scale, it is the serious option. Agencies can now start without a demo, at $399 a month per client workspace.
    Where it falls short
There is no self-serve plan for brands. The free trial runs 50 prompts daily for seven days on three engines, on a recommended prompt set you cannot edit, and the next step is a demo and an Enterprise quote. That is a deliberate choice about who they sell to, and it means a brand below that size is not the customer. It is also worth reading their own comparison of these tools, which ranks Profound first and is candid about rivals.
  9. Entry plan

    $250/mo Core, 125 prompts

    Best for
Agencies that want visibility monitoring, site audits and an AI-optimised version of their pages from one vendor.
    Engines
Four on Core: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot. Nine on Enterprise, adding Claude, Gemini, AI Mode, Meta AI and Grok.
    What it does
Monitors brand visibility across answer engines, adds site auditing, and on Enterprise runs what it calls an Agent Experience Platform, which serves an AI-optimised version of a page to crawlers without changing what humans see. Sitecore acquired it on 3 June 2026. Core and the $500 Agency Core plan can be started with a seven-day trial, and it has a developer portal and an MCP server covering reads and configuration writes.
    Where it falls short
Core covers four engines; Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode are on Enterprise, and each brand tracked needs its own subscription. At $250 for four engines, the entry plan is the thing to weigh against the others here.

Before you buy any of them

Three things to check in any LLM visibility tool before you buy

These are the questions we would ask a vendor, including us. Beside them is the screen in ours where all three are answered, shown with an example brand.

Does it keep the answers?
A percentage on a chart is a summary of something that was said. If the tool threw the text away, you cannot check the number, and neither can the vendor. We store every answer in full for this reason, so every number can be checked against the answer behind it.
Does it separate cited from named?
Your page can be in the sources while a competitor is in the sentence. That is the most common surprising finding in this category, and it needs different work from being absent. A tool that merges the two has averaged away the thing you would act on, which is why citation tracking is its own measurement here.
Does it show the denominator?
Each answer is generated fresh, so a single check is a coin flip, and “named in 40% of answers” means nothing without the count behind it. Ask how many checks sit under each number, and whether a small one shows as a fraction. Our rule is on the visibility tracking page: under five, two of four, not fifty per cent.

What is an AI visibility tool?
Software that runs the prompts your buyers type against AI assistants, records whether your brand is named in the answer and which pages are cited, and reports that as a rate over time. The useful ones separate being named from being cited, keep the full answer text, and show you how many checks sit behind every number. RankHound is built as an AI visibility platform to get you recommended: it shows which answers name a competitor instead of you, which pages the engines read, and whether a change you made worked.
How did you rank these?
On what the cheapest plan actually includes, read from each vendor's own pricing page on 9 October 2026: which engines, how many prompts, how often it checks, and the price. We are first because ours is the lowest-priced plan on the page that carries all six engines with nothing sold as an add-on. That is one criterion. If your criterion is agent tooling or an enterprise sales process, Profound is the answer and we say so.
Which tool tracks the most engines?
Rankscale lists seventeen or more on every plan, paid for in credits, and AthenaHQ includes eleven on its $295 Starter. Peec lists up to thirteen on Enterprise and three per project below it. We cover six, all on every plan: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. Copilot, Grok, Meta AI and DeepSeek are not covered yet.
Which is cheapest?
To start, ours at $9 a month for two prompts, then Rankscale's Essentials at $17 a month, billed yearly, and Otterly's $29 Lite. Otterly's price is for four engines; adding Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode costs extra on every plan. Rankscale's covers every engine but spends credits per answer, and a Claude answer costs eight times a ChatGPT one. Cheapest per answer is a different calculation, and on it we are not first: it depends on how many prompts and engines you run.
Are there free AI visibility tools?
AthenaHQ's Essential plan costs nothing and includes 300 credits on five engines. Most of the rest offer a trial: Profound's runs 50 prompts daily for seven days on a prompt set it chooses for your industry, Scrunch and Rankscale offer seven days on a paid plan, and Otterly and Peec offer one without stating its length on their pricing pages. Our trial is seven days on any plan; a card is required and nothing is charged until it ends.
Do any of these measure real ChatGPT prompt volume?
No. Nobody can. The assistants do not publish how often a question is asked, and no panel observes it at scale. Ahrefs builds its prompt index on its keyword database; Peec uses clickstream estimates; we use Google search volume for the phrasing and call it search volume. Every figure in this category is a proxy, so ask each vendor which one it uses.
Should I just use Semrush or Ahrefs since I already pay for them?
If you want a first look, yes, and both are good for it. If AI visibility is a thing you will act on weekly, the differences matter: Semrush updates Brand Performance weekly across four engines, and Ahrefs' index is built on its keyword database, which Ahrefs says suits brands with meaningful search demand. A dedicated tool is worth it once you have found something in the SEO suite worth chasing.
